Mr. Blackwell is the Director of St. Mary’s County Library, overseeing all operations of the county’s three branch library system. Michael holds MA degrees in English from the University of Virginia and a Master’s of Library and Information Science degree from Kent State University.
He is a newcomer to St Mary’s County, but is eagerly becoming active in his new community and making it his home. Michael is an Ambassador for St Mary’s Chamber of Commerce, a member of Leonardtown Rotary, a Trustee for County Mediation of St. Mary’s, and regular volunteer at Sotterley Plantation. He enjoys being on the water, windsurfing or kayaking, playing golf, cycling, and exploring dining and recreational activities in the county with his wife Lisa.
Michael joined the Board of Directors for Cedar Lane Senior Living Community in January 2017.
