Kathy Franzen built a 42-year career in nursing, working with some of the region’s leading organizations including MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center, St. Mary’s College of Maryland Health Center, Charles County Health Department, and MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital.
For the past ten years, Kathy has served as Director of Hospice of St. Mary’s, a nonprofit social service agency that provides physical, psychological and spiritual care services. In this role, she planned and executed the organization’s programs and services. This included working with a community board to raise funds for the county’s first Hospice House, which opened in 2009.
Kathy is an avid community volunteer and serves on her church’s Altar Guild, overseeing the maintenance and preparation of the church’s altar and its furnishings. She is also a founder and member of the Hospice Festival of Trees Committee, charged with planning and executing the annual festival, which is going into its 14th year.
