Ms. Burch Norris was born in St. Mary’s County to F. Elliott Burch, Jr. and Joanne Lawrence Buzzell. She graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing Management. Upon graduation, she went to work for Gulf Oil Corporation in East Providence, Rhode Island. In 1984 Sheri came back to St. Mary’s County to join the family business, Burch Oil Company, where today she is a Vice President.
Her grandfather, Elliott Burch, Sr., was one of the founding members of Cedar Lane Senior Living Community. Her father, Sonny Burch, has been very active with Cedar Lane over the years and served on the Board of Directors for over 20 years. Sheri has served on various boards and been an active member of several organizations, including but not limited to: Christmas in April St. Mary’s County, St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce, St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation, Professional Business Leaders of America, Human Resource Association of Southern Maryland, and the Society of Human Resource Management.
Sheri is the mother of two children. Her daughter, Lauren, graduated from the University of Maryland in May 2016 with her Master of Arts in Higher Education, Student Affairs, and International Education Policy. She is currently enrolled in the Doctoral program at the University of Maryland and also works for the University as the Director of Student & Recent Graduate Programming. Lauren lives in Baltimore.
Her son, Dillon, graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, in May 2016 with his Bachelor of Science in Economics. He currently resides in New York City where he works at the Related Companies as a developer of Hudson Yards, the largest private real estate development in American history.
Sheri previously served on the Board of Directors for Cedar Lane Senior Living Community from 2013 -2018.
