December 28, 2020

Dear Members of the Cedar Lane Community,

Today we learned a second community member has tested positive for COVID-19. This individual will self-isolate for 10 days, and follow future directives as deemed necessary by his/her healthcare provider.

Respect patient privacy:

Privacy rules prohibit us from sharing any identifying information about this community member. Please respect this individual’s privacy even if you believe you know who it is.

Contact tracing:

Contact tracing is being conducted by the St. Mary’s County Health Department to identify individuals with whom this individual has had close contact. Close contact is defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as being within 6 feet of someone with COVID-19 for more than 15 minutes. If you are not contacted, you are not deemed to be at increased risk of exposure.

Monitor for symptoms:

If you develop a fever and symptoms, such as cough or difficulty breathing, call your healthcare provider immediately for medical advice.

Protect yourself:

The virus is present within our community and more confirmed cases could be in our future. Staying home as much as you can, wearing a mask (properly so that it covers your nose and mouth) when you do go out, following proper handwashing hygiene and maintaining a safe social distance is critical to our community’s response. Please continue to take these steps to keep yourself and those around you safe.

Best regards,
