Community Update: September 25, 2020

Dear Cedar Lane residents, family & friends,

Happy fall. We wanted to provide you with an update on our community as we continue to navigate these uncertain times.

COVID-19 Update

To date, we have had no known COVID-19 cases at Cedar Lane. This is no small feat and I am grateful for the hard work, dedication and commitment on the part of residents, their families and staff members to safeguard our community.

MOR in the Burch Building

On Tuesday, September 29, 2020, auditors will be on property to perform a Management and Occupancy Review (MOR) for the Burch Building. An MOR is a comprehensive review designed to make sure Cedar lane is in full compliance with all HUD requirements. Some of you with apartments in the Burch Building may have received a resident satisfaction survey to complete. We will let you know how we do!

Businesses Adjacent to Our Campus

It has come to our attention that a few Cedar Lane residents are inappropriately using the Medical Arts Center parking lot adjacent to our campus for parking and smoking. As posted signs indicate, parking at the Medical Arts Building is reserved for clients only. As a MedStar Health facility, the Medical Arts Building is a smoke-free campus, with no smoking permitted anywhere on their grounds. I am asking you to please be good neighbors and respect the businesses next door. We don’t want to see anyone towed or fined for violating the requests and rights of our neighbors.

Are You Registered to Vote?

There are 38 days left until Election Day. I hope you are excited to make your voice heard. If you would like assistance with registering to vote, call the front desk and ask for Service Coordinators Crystal King or Kirk Turner. Unsure if you are registered or not? We can check for you! This year, we have our choice of voting by mail, voting early in person, or voting on Election Day. Your vote counts and so do you!

End of Year Project from Friends of Cedar Lane

The Friends of Cedar Lane Board members are in discussions about an end-of-year project to benefit residents. Past projects have included the refurbishment of the hair salon, outfitting the fitness center, a new audio/visual system, and the new patio area next to the dining room. If you have an idea for this year’s project, I would love to hear it. Please keep in mind, we can’t plan a group outing or activity at this time due to social distancing. But if you have an idea for a facility upgrade that you would enjoy, or a new technology that would make your life easier, please call the front desk and ask for Wanda Fenwick, who will collect all ideas and forward them to me for consideration.

Stay well and enjoy the cooler weather!

Beverly Stickles

Sincerely,

Beverly Stickles
